Falcon Warrior Effigy Pipe, Style 1100 CE

Description

This Effigy Pipe is a motif called “Falcon Warrior” in the Mississippian Culture . It may have been smoked by or buried with a soldier of the Falcon Warrior Society. Notice the conical bowl, the elaborate hair, a necklace, and the atypical suggestion of feathers. The pipe is carved from dark Soapstone from Tennessee or Alabama. It exhibits no wear and is therefore probably a reproduction.
