What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service if you are using it. Media

If you upload images to the browsing areas of the website, such as adding a photo to a product review, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. We do not modify your uploads and it is possible a visitor to the website could download and extract location data from images on the website.

Name, age, address, location and contact information

In order to verify and complete your order, we collect your name, age, address, location, and contact information. We use this information to support making a purchase and to communicate with you about activities related to purchasing from Racine and Laramie. For example, if you make an order we contact you confirming the purchase. If you opt in to our mail list, you may occasionally receive communication related to sales and store updates.

One way we support purchases is to check that customers are old enough to purchase tobacco products legally before they receive a shipment. We use  an identity and age verification service as is required by law. Our service, Melissa, undergoes SOC 2 Type II audits and is HIPAA compliant. Data shared with them is subject to their privacy policy.

There are other reasons we may use this information. We may also use your information to determine your location for shipping restrictions or limiting what content we provide if there are legal restrictions on products.

We may use information to prevent and address fraud, breach of policies, or threats of harm or harassment.

We may use information to comply with legal process such as search warrants, subpoena or court orders, or if it is requested by regulatory agencies with authority over the tobacco industry, such as the Food and Drug Administration, or in order to resolve payment disputes with payment processors.

Payment Information

For security and efficiency, purchases completed through the Racine and Laramie website use third party services, such as credit card processors or Paypal. These services require information and are governed by their own privacy policies.
